Kodak Moments in Bamban

Bamban, Tarlac has many beauty spots. Being far enough from Manila or the big city, the community is blessed with a mountainous topography with rivers and such. It's like going to a state park with its natural beauty. With the completion of the Tarlac to Manila freeway, it will be easier to drive to Bamban. The town has a small waterfall, hills, a tunnel, and several rivers. Unfortunately, the lava from Mount Pinatubo marred the beauty of these river banks, giving them a grey color. Looking at Parua River (the Grey Lady of Bamban) made me think of a woman in her later years--- this river has seen better days and is now grey all over! Our decrepit bridge taken forcefully by the Pinatubo raging lava flow is gone and in its place is a fairly new gateway to the 21st century. Our Bamban bridge looks truly modern, to say the least. For those who want to visit our community, for those who want to take photos of these places, kindly contact the head of the Bamban Historical Society, Rhonie dela Cruz. He said he will accommodate those who would like to see the beauty of nature in Bamban, Tarlac. Thanks a lot, Rhonie. Don't see Bamban as a forsaken place ravaged by Pinatubo. Rather, see how it rose up from its fight against this volcano to catch its breath again. In contrast, let me cite Pompeii, a forgotten city buried by the wratch of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Even worse, its neighboring city, Herculaneum, is still being dug by archeologists. These places are history, but not Bamban. Our resilient citizens brought it back to life. There is now Bamban, Part II. As concerned citizens who love Bamban, let's give our town the honor she deserves.
